Family And Friends Of Tania Hollman Make Appeal To Make Road Safe

Last updated on Thursday, January 22, 2015

(BLOOMFIELD) - Family and friends of Tania Holloman made an appeal to the Greene County commissioners for safety improvements to Mineral Koleen Road.

Earlier this month, Holloman lost her life when her vehicle was caught in a flash flood on the roadway.

The Greene County Daily World reports that Holloman's best friend Charity Sells presented the commissioners with a petition and more than 800 signatures from county residents seeking the panel's help in preventing further tragedy on the county road.

The petition called for a reduction in the speed limit as well as the posting of signs warning drivers of the hazard and the installation of some form of safety barrier or guard rails along the road. The family says the area where their daughter perished is currently unmarked as far as signs are concerned and there is nothing there to keep a vehicle from entering the creek.

Commissioner President Nathan Abrams acknowledged Sells' and the family's concerns and explained he had looked over the area and agreed the situation is one that needs to be addressed and told the family they would do all they could to prevent something like this happening again.
