(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man is facing dealing charges after police discovered a large amount of meth in his home.

31-year-old Jasper Levi Chastain is facing charges of driving a vehicle while never licensed, possession of meth of at least 10 grams, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of meth more than 10 grams but less than 28 grams, dealing in meth at least 10 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers received a tip that Chastain was in possession of a large amount of meth.

"We had officers set up at his home on Old U.S. 50, while other officers were securing a search warrant," Parsley added. "While the officers were securing the search warrant, the ones at the house saw Mr. Chastain get into a vehicle and leave."

Police knew Chastain did not have a valid driver's license and stopped the vehicle and placed Chastain under arrest for driving a vehicle while never licensed.

In the meantime, Lawrence County and Bedford Police officers secured a search warrant and began searching Chastain's home.

"They found a substantial amount of packages that all tested positive for meth ready to be sold," Parsley says. "Officers found an excess of 10 grams of meth. That is a very large amount. They also found drug paraphernalia."

Parsley says meth sells for $100 to $150 a gram.
