Last updated on Monday, December 22, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Springville woman suffered minor injuries after she crashed her vehicle on Avoca Eureka Road Saturday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 18-year-old Taylor Lackey was traveling south on Avoca Eureka Road when she dropped an ink pen on the floor board and reached down to pick it up.

While she was reaching for the pen, the tire of her 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier caught on something and caused her car to run off the roadway, crash through a small barrier and crash down into a culvert.

Lackey told police that she then crawled out of the passenger side window just before the vehicle caught on fire.

Lacky suffered a small cut to the right side of her head and was treated at the scene and then went home with her parents.

Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the blaze and the vehicle was towed.
