(BLOOMINGTON) - Jurors late Tuesday night acquitted a Solsberry man of causing the death of a woman driving her motorcycle when his van crossed the center line on Ind. 48 west of Bloomington and struck her last year.

50-year-old Larry Scott Uland was found not guilty of drunken driving resulting in the death of 51-year-old Tammy Hale of Spencer even though he was driving with a blood-alcohol content above .15.

In November 2013, Hale was traveling east in the 9000 block of West Ind. 48 on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle when a 1997 Chevrolet Venture van driven by Uland crossed the center line and hit the motorcycle head-on.

Hale was critically injured and rushed to a local hospital where she later died. Uland wasn't harmed and police said they thought he was under the influence.

After testing and finding Uland's blood alcohol levels were above the legal limit he was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death.
