(BLOOMINGTON) - On New Year’s Day, those brave enough to face freezing waters can participate in two polar bear plunges, with only ugly Christmas sweaters and/or groovy tie-dyed clothing to keep them warm.
The 11th annual Bloomington Polar Bear Plunge will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Fairfax Beach at the Fairfax State Recreation Area. There is no fee to run into the water, and advance registration is not necessary.
It is recommended that plungers arrive as early as 10 a.m. in order to sign a participation waiver before running into the water.
Plunge participants will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card from Indiana Running Co.
