(BEDFORD) - One man was injured in an accident at the intersection of State Road 37 and State Road 158 Sunday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, Derek Stancombe was suffering a medical condition when he crashed his vehicle.

Witnesses say they saw Stancombe, who was traveling west on State Road 37, drive his vehicle very slowly through the intersection and then drive off the southwest side of State Road 158 up the embankment and stop.

When an ambulance crew arrived on the scene, Stancombe sped off and went down the embankment and struck a fence belonging to the state and the Phillips 66 gas sign pole.

Stancombe, who was disoriented, told police the last thing he remembered was being at the stop light at 16th Street and Ind. 37.

Stancombe, who told police he had no history of a medical condition, complained of wrist pain and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
