(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly slapped and pushed a woman at the couple’s home.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig, officers were alerted about the battery after the woman went to the Mitchell Police Department to report the battery and requesting an officer go to the home in the 100 block of Burton Lane to help her retrieve some of her property.
"The woman told police that 26-year-old David Gaines had slapped her and pushed her during a domestic fight," Craig added. "After investigating, officers went to the home and arrested Mr. Gaines without incident.
Gaines is facing a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a minor and was booked into the Lawrence County Jail. He was still in jail this morning and is being held on a $755 cash or $7,500 surety bond.
