(WORTHINGTON) - A man was killed in a crash west of Worthington early Sunday morning when he was ejected from his car after it flipped several times.

According to police, 21-year-old Dillon Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. He died from injuries suffered after being thrown from the car.

Police say Jenkins was traveling westbound on State Road 48, just west of the intersection of County Road 700 West, in a 2006 Chevrolet just before 6 a.m. when the vehicle went off the north side of the road, traveled about 800 feet and flipped several times into a field, stopping on its side.

Only one vehicle was reported to be involved in the incident and there were no passengers.

The highway was closed for a couple of hours as rescue personnel cleared the scene.

In addition to Greene County Sheriff Department deputies, rescue personnel from the Jasonville Police Department, Linton Police Department, Worthington Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service and the Greene County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
