Man Arrested For Child Molesting After Failing Polygraph Exam

Last updated on Monday, December 15, 2014

(BLOOMFIELD) - A man facing a child molesting charge was arrested on Friday.

Officers arrested 37-year-old Todd Howard late Friday afternoon. He was taken to the Greene County Jail and is being held without bond.

The Greene County Daily World reports that Julie Criger, an investigator for the Greene County Prosecutor's Office, and the lead investigator in this case, was contacted in late September by a family case manager from the Department of Child Services about a suspicion that a young child had been the victim of inappropriate behavior by Howard.

Although court records show Howard with an address in Shelburn, he allegedly had been in a relationship that put him in the home of the child in Greene County at the time incidents occurred.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Howard claims he never was alone with the child and denies touching the child in any manner.

However, Indiana State Police Sgr. Dan Gress, says Howard agreed to take a polygraph examination and failed that exam.

After the polygraph, Howard changed his story and admitted he had touched the child and apologized for his behavior.

A warrant was issued Wednesday for Howard's arrest and he was picked up Friday.

When Howard appears in court for an initial hearing, he will be charged with child molesting, a class C felony.
