Last updated on Friday, December 5, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Solsberry man is on trial for driving drunk and causing the death of a Bloomington woman.

50-year-old Larry Uland is accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing the death of 51-year-old Tammy Hale of Spencer.

In November 2013, Hale was traveling east in the 9000 block of West Ind. 48 on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle when a 1997 Chevrolet Venture van driven by Uland, who was traveling west, crossed the center line and hit the motorcycle head-on.

Hale was critically injured and rushed to a local hospital where she later died. Uland wasn't harmed and police said they thought he was under the influence.

After testing and finding Uland's blood alcohol levels were above the legal limit he was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death.
