LIFE Christmas Fantasia Raises More Than $31,000

Last updated on Monday, December 8, 2014

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford North Lawrence Pep Club entry took the top bid at Saturday’s LIFE Christmas Fantasia

The Bedford North Lawrence Pep Club entry, a red white and blue tree decorated with BNL Stars ornaments and signed items from nearly every sport the club represents, sold for $1,200, making it the top selling tree.

Auctioneer Roger Robinson rallied the crowd to bid with Brett and Heidi Werley taking home the tree.

Several BNL clubs decorated trees for the event, including Student Council, Beta Club, Key Club and art students. Pace said it was the first time Pep Club entered a tree. She and teacher Tiffani Kurtz planned the tree's theme and involved students in making the decorations.

Jennifer Gott's Grinch tree, an-all white tree featuring the Grinch's backside poking out of the tree was one of the most unique entries this year. It won first place in the judging and was the People's Choice winner. It sold for $700.

The sale of nearly 100 items brought in more than $31,000, far surpassing the $24,400 raised at the 2013 Fantasia.
Laura Bailey, LIFE director of operations, said lots of bidders (150) and beautiful items made the auction successful.
Three trees sold for $700 or more and a stone snowman sold for $850.

A raffle of items including a fireplace and overnight stay in French Lick raised $1,100.
