Lawrence County Police Investigating Theft Of Batteries

(MITCHELL) - Lawrence County police are investigating the theft of batteries from a fence line in the 1000 block of South 9th Street.

Officers were alerted to the theft just after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

During their investigation officers were contacted by Bedford Recycling in Mitchell.

While there investigating for stolen items, officers talked to 21-year-old Tyler Dixon of Campbellsburg.

Officers discovered Dixon was wanted on a warrant in Washington County for possession of chemical reagents of precursors and was arrested.

Sheriff Elect Mike Branham says suspects have been identified in the theft and the investigation is ongoing.

"The victim is in the process of identifying the property that was sold for scrap," Branham added.
