Last updated on Wednesday, December 31, 2014

(BROWNSTOWN) - A Jackson County Jail officer is recovering after he suffered minor injuries during an altercation with an inmate on Saturday.

Jail Officer Clint Burcham sustained minor injuries to his jaw, hand and elbow when he and fellow officer Josh Clark were trying to restrain Alexander Mark after the inmate became combative.

Mark then charged at Burcham and a brief struggle ensued.

Officer Clark was able to deploy a taser that struck Mark in the back.

Burchall was taken to Schneck Medical Center for treatment and then returned to work the same day.

Mark, who was in jail on charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana, will now face an additional felony charge of batter on a correctional officer.
