(BICKNELL) - A hostage situation in Bicknell ended peacefully Monday night.

Police arrested 30-year-old James "Jamie" Winemiller II, after about an hour long standoff.

The incident began when a Bicknell police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle Winemiller was riding in.
Winemiller was wanted for not returning to work release.

Police say a juvenile driver of the car turned his lights off and would not stop for police and drove to Winemiller's home. Once there, Winemiller took a 7-month old child from the vehicle and fled inside and barricaded himself and the child inside. Police say Winemiller was armed with a weapon.

The Knox County Sheriff's Department and State Police Swat Teams were called to the scene.

The situation ended peacefully around 9 p.m.when Winemiller was taken into custody. He was arrested on a charge of dangerous control of a child, burglary and theft.

The child was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and examined for precautionary reasons.

No other injuries were reported.
