Washington Parks And Police Departments To Receive New Equipment

(WASHINGTON) - Both the Washington Parks Department and the City Police Department will be receiving some new equipment thanks to grants from the Daviess County Community Foundation.

The Washington Times Herald reports that one grant for $18,115 is going to the police department for the purchase of 6 in car video/audio recording systems.

The parks department received a grant of $24,600 to purchase ADA playground equipment for the East Side Park.

The city will be installing a wheel chair accessible glider and three additional ADA swings with the money.

The grants for the city are part of $150,000 that are part of the current funding cycle for the Daviess Community Foundation through its discretionary grants program.

Since the organization was founded in 1993 it has distributed $4.5 million to area agencies, departments, organizations and individuals.
