(WASHINGTON) - The Washington Police Department announced a juvenile suspect was arrested Friday in connection with Thursday's bomb threat that evacuated Washington High School.

Washington Police Chief Mike Healy says the teen was arrested after detectives were able to trace the Internet Protocol (IP) address the threat originated from. Healy says an IP address is basically a number assigned to each electronic device that can be traced through companies.

Chief Healy confirmed the threat was made via Yik Yak. According to internet resources, Yik Yak is an anonymous social media app. It is available for iOS and Android users and it allows people to anonymously create and view posts within a 1.5 mile radius depending on how many other users are nearby.

Healy declined to identify the suspect's or whether they are a student due to their age. He did say the suspect is facing pending charges including intimidation and false reporting.

Washington High School Principal LeAnne Kelley confirmed it was not a student enrolled in the school.

Thursday's bomb threat began shortly after noon when the threat was brought to officials' attention. A perimeter blockade was set up around both the high school and junior high about 20 minutes later. The high school was placed on lockdown until students were evacuated around 12:25 p.m. and moved to a then undisclosed location off-campus.

Officials from the WPD and Daviess County Sheriff's Department entered the school at 12:40 p.m. to conduct a sweep of the entire building. An all-clear was later given and students returned to class around 1:26 p.m. School officials then instructed students the school day would continue as a normal day, albeit on a slightly different schedule.
