Last updated on Tuesday, November 25, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Three people suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash at Mitchell Road and 30th Streets Monday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, 43-year-old Stephen Kiernicki, who was driving a Cosner Ice truck, was pulling out of Jackson's Mini Mart and didn't see the 2002 Ford Taurus traveling south on Mitchell Road.

The truck collided with the Taurus driven by 39-year-old Tiana Caraway of Springville.

Tiana, who suffered a head injury, was unable to speak to police. She was taken flown by helicopter to a Louisville hospital.

Her passengers, a 2-year-old girl complained of body pain and a 10-year-old girl suffered severe bleeding to her head. The police report states one child was flown by helicopter to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment and the other was taken to IU Health Hospital for treatment.

Kiernicki was not injured.

Due to the seriousness of the accident, both Kiernicki and Caraway voluntarily submitted to blood-alcohol draws. Those results are pending.

Kiernicki was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

A citation for driving while her driver's license was suspended was mailed to Caraway.
