Last updated on Monday, November 10, 2014

(GREENE CO.) - A one-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of 18-year-old Emily Speer of Solsberry.

The crash occurred at 4 p.m. on North State Road 43, about 1,000 feet north of E. Meadow Creek Lane.

According to Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Josh Fuller, Speer was traveling north into a sharp curve when she lost control of her vehicle and went off of the west side of the road and down an embankment.

Her 1997 Subaru Legacy landed upside down in a creek with approximately three to four feet of water.

Speer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police noted that at the time of the crash, it was raining and the pavement was wet and could have contributed to the cause of the accident.

Indiana State Police, Eastern Fire Department, Van Buren Fire Department, and Greene County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
