(MITCHELL) - Mitchell residents are encouraged to meet with officials from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, volunteers, city officials and business leaders for a discussion on Mitchell's Comprehensive Plan Implementation.

The meeting will be held at City Hall on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.

Mayor Gary Pruett says those attending will look at how the city can immediately begin implementing the suggestions in the Comprehensive Plan.

The Times-Mail reports that the plan was developed after the city received a $40,000 grant for the proposal from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Not only can the plan be used as an outline for future development and growth, it's also instrumental when municipalities apply for grant funding. The last time Mitchell developed a comprehensive plan was 2006.

During the past year, community leaders, youths and members of the public have been brought together to provide input for the plan. The ideas and proposals have come from the information community engineers gleamed from those sessions.
