(MITCHELL) - The National Gallery of Art Series programs will return to the Mitchell Community Public Library.

The program combines materials from the National Gallery of Art with creative activities to make art come alive for all ages.

Initially designed with homeschool children in mind, these programs can enrich the mind of any student and create a richer learning experience.

Art education has been associated with many developmental benefits such as improving motor skills, language development, decision making, visual learning, attentiveness, cultural awareness and improved academic performance.

Four sessions are scheduled, each from 6-7 p.m. Topics that will be covered this season:

Nov. 7: Famous sculptures and exploring with 3D art.

Dec. 4: Color theory.

Jan. 8: Salvador Dali, the father of surrealism.

Feb. 5: Pablo Picasso, the father of cubism.

Parents must attend with children younger than 11.

Call the library at 849-2412 to reserve a spot, or register online at www.mitchell.lib.in.us/kids.
