Last updated on Monday, November 3, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man is facing charges after he allegedly strangled a woman and then kicked out the back window of a Lawrence County police car.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig, officers were called to a home in the 3700 block of South Leatherwood Road reporting a domestic fight at a neighboring home.

Craig says the woman fled her home and went to a nearby home to call police.

The woman reported that during a domestic fight with 28-year-old Tyler Wilson, of Bedford, he had injured her.

An ambulance was called to the scene after the woman complained she was having difficulty breathing.

The woman, who signed a battery affidavit, reported Wilson had strangled her during the fight. The woman suffered red marks to her neck.

Police arrested Wilson on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor and strangulation. Child Services was contacted.

After officers placed Wilson in the police car he kicked out the back window of the vehicle.

An additional charge of criminal mischief was added to Wilson's charges.
