(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University sophomore Devin Davis has been released from an Indianapolis hospital Wednesday, according to Indiana coach Tom Crean.
Crean said Davis will now receive outpatient care in Indianapolis.
Crean added that it was still too soon to speculate on when Davis could return to practice.
Teammates say they hope to have Davis involved in team functions soon.
Davis suffered what Crean has called a "traumatic brain injury" when he jumped in front of and was struck by a vehicle driven by teammate Emmitt Holt in the early morning hours of Nov. 1. The 19-year-old was hospitalized at IU Health Bloomington Hospital until receiving a transfer to an Indianapolis facility on Nov. 7.
One of the first noticeable signs of progress came last week, when Davis attended a Warren Central girls' basketball game to watch his sister play on Nov. 13.
Emmit Holt said that his life has "changed forever" and he can't say sorry enough to everybody. He has sat down with Davis since the incident and while Davis assures him that he wasn't at fault Holt says he feels deep down that he is the one to blame for Davis' injury.
Holt also said that the weeks following the accident have been "the toughest and longest of my life."
