(SALEM) - A Salem man was arrested on charges of dealing heroin.

Police say 35-year-old Nathaniel Lloyd was supplying heroin to 20 to 50 people and was arrested making a sale.

Lloyd is facing felony charges of dealing heroin, possession of a schedule I, II, III or IV controlled substance and resisting law enforcement.

Also arrested was 21-year-old Haley Jo Wilson of Salem, who was buying from Lloyd when officers saw the deal go down. She faces a felony charge for possession of heroin or a narcotic drug.

Last Monday, Salem City Police Officer Eric Mills was conducting surveillance on Lloyd's home in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant on him.

Around 1:30 p.m., another officer contacted Mills to tell him they saw Lloyd leaving in a white van.

Lloyd turned into the parking lot of China Express on South Jackson Street and police witness him sale drugs to Wilson.

Officer's blocked Wilson's vehicle from leaving. A search of her car turned up two foil papers with a brown powdery substance believed to be heroin. Wilson told officers she had bought two packages containing 1/10ths of heroin from Lloyd for $70. She told police she had been buying the drug from him for several months and was addicted to the drug.

As officers were talking with Wilson, Lloyd tried to flee on foot from the officers speaking with him. He was quickly apprehended.

Officers also interviewed Jeanne L. La Chappelle, who lives with Lloyd. She told police Lloyd goes to Louisville once or twice a week, purchasing 20-30 grams each time and spending $2,000 to $3,000. She claims Lloyd cuts the drug into tenths and sells each package for between $30 and $40 and sells it to between 20 and 50 people.

Officers recovered more than $4,000 in cash, several packages of heroin, and prescription pills.
