(LINTON) - The Linton-Stockton High School hosted a talent show with Linton’s most artistic students at the school’s first annual talent show, Thursday. The drama department used the opportunity as a fundraiser for the spring musical.
Ten acts performed, including: Chance Sherman and Geoffrey Gentry singing and playing guitar to "Jesse's Girl," Kyana Griffith and Gillian Perry performing a flag routine to "Cool Kids," Morgan Cox singing "I Won't let you Go," Madeleine Gainey singing "Over the Rainbow," Tyler Siders singing "Welcome to the Masquerade," Aubri Lehman dancing to "Knock, Knock, Knock on Wood," Krystal McBride singing "The A Team," Makayla Fulton and Tabitha Lewis singing and playing guitar to "Dirt Road Prayer," Geoffrey Gentry singing and playing guitar to "You Don't Love me Anymore," and Ashlee Johnson and Shanae Spinks singing and playing guitar to "Titanium."
Geoffrey Gentry won first place with his humorous lyrics of his solo song choice.
The Greene County Daily World reports, after the conclusion of the performances, the three judges Brad McKinney, Lori Wade, and Michael Puckett tallied up the votes and announced the winners.
The third place award, consisting of a cheesecake sampler, a pumpkin spice roll, a headphone splitter, and a collection of McDonald's coupons, was received by a combination of two tied acts. Aubri Lehman, dancer, and Makayla Fulton and Tabitha Lewis, singer and guitar player, were both awarded equal scores.
Ashlee Johnson and Shanae Spinks performed exquisitely together and delivered a nearly flawless performance. The audience was in awe by the vocals and music exhibited by the pair, and the judges must have felt similarly; the girls were awarded a second place prize containing a shirt donated by Linton Sporting Goods, a set of homework passes for each department of the high school, a giant jawbreaker, and another group of McDonald's coupons.
Geoffrey Gentry's polished guitar and delightful song choice of Weird Al Yankovic's "You Don't Love me Anymore" earned him the highest scores from the judges. Gentry received a cooler donated by Bloomfield State Bank and a music dock.
