HWY 37 Construction Between Paoli & Orleans Should Be Complete By Monday

Last updated on Friday, November 14, 2014

(WEST BADEN SPRINGS) - Construction on State Road 37 between Paoli and Orleans should be complete by Monday.

Work crews finished stripping the new road earlier this week and are now moving the last of their equipment and materials.

Speed limits will return back to normal - no more 35 miles per hour.

Indiana Department of Transportation official Chris Gentry says State Road 37 is one of two active projects included in an ongoing plan to improve travel from Lawrence County to Interstate 64.

The second project is on State Road 56/U.S. 150, stretching from one block west of the Paoli square to about two miles to the west where it will meet with a segment of work completed in Prospect. The project should be completed by Spring and should be complete before the PGA Champions Tour planned in French Lick on May 21-24.

Now that winter is approaching crews working on State Road 37/U.S. 150 will be limited in what they can accomplish since cold temperatures impact paving work.

The last two section of the corridor, both in Paoli, will not be let for bids until July 2015.

One of the sections will begins at the intersection of West Main Street and Southwest First Street and continues through the town square to just south of Hospital Road. The second, begins on U.S. 150/State Road 56 at County Road 225 West and extends to the junction of State Road 37 (First Street) where the other project picks up.
