(BROWNSTOWN) - A teenager driving without a license was arrested following a police chase through Brownstown.
18-year-old Preston Fee of Brownstown was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, criminal recklessness with a vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Monday afternoon, Fee and another person were confronted by jail Commander Charlie Murphy and court security Officer J.L. McElfresh outside the courthouse annex at 220 East Walnut Street.
After the confrontation Fee drove away in a teal Chevrolet S10.
Lt. Darin Downs, who was called to assist Murphy and McElfresh, saw Fee pull onto Sugar Street at a high-rate of speed and driving "very recklessly."
Downs attempted to stop the pickup, but Fee refused to pull over.
Fee drove onto Commerce Street, through the parking lot of a store and onto Steinkamp Street. He pulled into a residential driveway and ran bailed from the truck and ran into a nearby home.
Downs, Brownstown Officer John Long and off-duty county Officer Adam Nicholson found Fee hiding in a small closet in the basement of that home.
Police found drug paraphernalia in Fee's truck.
Brownstown Reserve Officer Michael Maxie and Jackson County Sgt. Stan Darlage assisted with the pursuit and arrest.
