Bertha's Mission To Provide Meals To More Than 600 Saturday

(BEDFORD) - Bertha’s Mission will be serving Thanksgiving dinner to more than 600 people at the First Baptist Church in Bedford on Saturday from 2-6 p.m.

The meal is free to anyone -- those in financial need as well as those who just want some fellowship.

They will use more than 60 cans of cranberry sauce, 60 dozen rolls and 75 desserts, including 30 pumpkin pies.Food for the dinner will be prepared in five different kitchens.Jim Gore of Smokin Jim's Barbecue will prepare the meat.

Avoca Baptist is donating rolls for 700 people. First Baptist will provide all the desserts, and Sarah Wong of Empress Court will do the sweet potatoes.

Janice Nickeo, founder and director of Bertha's Mission, will prepare all the greens herself.

Hoosier Hills Credit Union is donating and serving the drinks, Cosner's Ice will donate the ice and Limestone Ladle volunteers also help with cooking.
