(FAYETTEVILLE) - A Bedford man was injured after he crashed his vehicle into a tree on Tripleton Pike early Tuesday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 48-year-old Kevin Banks of Bedford was traveling west on Tripleton Pike Road near John Keer Lane when he lost control of his 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Police say when they arrived on the scene, Banks had walked to a near-by home to call police. Officers found long-neck Budweiser beer bottles in the vehicle and one had spilled on the floorboard.

Police say Banks smelled of alcohol and had glassy and bloodshot eyes.

Banks complained of face and neck pain and was taken by an IU ambulance to the hospital for treatment. While there police secured a search warrant for a blood-draw. Results of that test are pending.

Assisting at the scene was Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department first responders.
