Woman Arrested After Causing Disturbance At Downtown Tavern

Last updated on Monday, October 6, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bloomington woman was arrested after she was causing a disturbance at the Downtown Tavern early Saturday morning.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the bar at 2:26 a.m. after a report of a fight.

When officers arrived they found a large group of people outside of the bar, who told police the fight was inside.

When officers entered the bar they found 26-year-old Kara James sitting at the bar and yelling profanities at other customers.

Officers asked James to stop, but she refused.

Police asked James to step outside and again she refused.

Officers escorted James, who was intoxicated, from the bar.

Once outside she told officers that another person was picking a fight with her. When asked who that person was, James refused to tell police.

She then continued to yell at officers and shout profanities.

Officers again asked James to stop and she refused.

James was told she was under arrest and that is when she began fighting with officers. She was forcibly placed in handcuffs but refused to walk. Officers had to carry her to the police car and into the Lawrence County Jail where she continued to fight with officers and be argumentative.

James was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
