White River Humane Society To Receive New Furnace

Last updated on Tuesday, October 14, 2014

(BEDFORD) - The White River Humane Society is getting a new furnace and new air conditioning a-coil Wednesday thanks to Tyler Lewis and Josh Gillihan of Air-Master Heating & Air Conditioning.

They have donated the unit and installation.

The two responded after WRHS posted a Facebook challenged called $5 Friday - to raise funds for the new heater.

However, shelter officials did not expect to receive a unit plus installation.

The relationship with Air-Master Heating & Air Conditioning began when they asked WRHS group members to help get 1000 likes on their business Facebook page; in return they would donate $1000 to the shelter. Shelter supporters came through and Air-Master honored their promise.

But Air-Master Heating & Air Conditioning were not the only ones to step up and help the shelter with a need.

Last month a storm washed away the embankment of the upper parking lot causing a mudslide to wipe out the shelter's garage wall which was all ready leaning.

Facebook post seeking help led Board of Director President Buddy Hendricks to Travis and Dave Thorne who came with a dozer and backhoe to clean up the damage.

The cause of the leaning wall was roots from a nearby tree. The men removed the tree during the cleanup which took about 4 hours of grading and dirt removal.

The staff and board of directors of WRHS want to thank these men and organizations for the donations.
