(WASHINGTON) - A red carpet premiere is set for Nov. 6 in Washington, when the Indiana Theater on Main Street will re-open after years of being closed.

President of the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation Foundation Natalie Smith says the event is a black tie event, but casual attire is acceptable. Tickets for the event are $30 each and can be purchased through the Facebook pages of the Indiana Theater and the Daviess County Economic Development Foundation. Tickets can also be purchased at the Economic Development Corporation offices at 219 East Main St. The premiere event is being used as a fundraising event by the Foundation for the Theater.

The Washington Times Herald reports that the event will include paparazzi photo opportunities, a reception from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with wine and hors d'oeuves, a talent show and a special presentation leading up to the movie of the night, "Hoosiers."

The talent show will be similar to those done during the matinees in the 1950s and 60s. In addition Washington High School students have put together a video that features basketball highlights from every school in Daviess County that will show prior to the feature.

Even though the movie of the night "Hoosiers" has been around for a while this version of "Hoosiers" includes a remastered soundtrack and with the Indiana Theater's upgrade in technical equipment the movie should produce a unique experience.

This will be the second premiere for the Indiana Theater in Washington. The first opening was Oct. 6, 1926. A live play of "La Boheme" was presented. Tickets that evening cost 30 cents and all 556 seats were sold out. The pipe organ that was part of the new theater had not yet been installed and the production had to resort to using the local community orchestra.
