Tuesday Is Election Day

Last updated on Friday, October 31, 2014

(UNDATED) - Tuesday is Election Day. Franklin D. Roosevelt once proclaimed, “Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves, and the only way they could do this is by not voting.”

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.

1340 AM WBIW, Super Oldies 105.5 WQRK and Z102 WPHZ (102.5) will keep listeners posted with election results as they come in.

Anyone interested in helping obtain election results is asked to contact Holly Davis at 275-7555. The station has brought updated election results to listeners for more than 40 years.

Election coverage is being brought to you by Stonebridge Health Campus, Lawrence County Community Foundation, Brenda Bahe Farmers Insurance, Bedford Ford Lincoln Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Bliss Place.

There are a few key points a voter needs to be aware of in order to make this year's General Election Day a successful one.

First you must be a registered voter.

If a resident is unsure whether he or she is registered, IndianaVoters.com and the Hoosier Voter Hotline (1-866-IN-1-VOTE) can provide registration statuses.

The next step is to cast your vote. Lawrence County Clerk Myron Rainey reminds voters knowing and reporting to the proper precinct is critical to being allowed to cast ballots.

He urges those who have questions on where they are to vote to call his office at 277-2036. Although other offices in the Lawrence County courthouse will be closed the clerk's office will be open for election-related purposes.

Voters are reminded to present a valid driver's license or a government issued photo identification card when reporting to the polls.

IndianaVoters.com is a great resource for anyone voting this year. The website includes any contact information needed to receive applications or ask any questions about voting. It also includes a list of elected officials and candidates listed on the ballot. Most, if not all, questions can be answered by visiting the site.
