Last updated on Tuesday, October 7, 2014

(BEDFORD) - An artificial tree bearing ornaments honoring individual service members will stand in adult services area at the Bedford Public Library through Veterans Day.

Ornaments from past years -- as well as new ornaments using this year's star template -- will be accepted.

The new template is available in adult services.

Customers may paste a photo to the star or simply write the name and information of the hero on the template using the markers provided.

Our Heroes' Tree is a national program in its 10th year. This is the seventh year the Bedford Public Library has participated.

Other library activities:

The library will host a free craft program "Make a Day of the Dead Mask" at the Boys & Girls Club on Wednesday, from 4 to 5 p.m.

As part of Teen Read Week, Oct. 12-18, a special teen lockdown will begin at 5 p.m. Oct. 17. A team from Professional Paranormal Investigations will take teens on an exploration for paranormal activity within the library. Free pizza will be provided. Teens must pre-register by visiting or calling the library at 275-4471.

On Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. children aged 10 and older can examine and learn about real animal bones, including skulls, during Skulls and Teeth in the program room.
