Suspicious Note And Substance Sent To Monroe County United Way

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police are investigating a suspicious letter that contained a substance that was received at the Monroe County United Way in the 400 block of South College Avenue, Monday afternoon.

Bloomington police, Bloomington firefighters and the Bloomington Township Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team responded to the building at 2 p.m.

Officials say the letter was received in the U.S. mail.

The envelope contained a hand-written note and a plastic baggie with a substance inside it. Officials say it was a small amount and the hazmat team was not able to obtain a proper amount for testing. The letter, baggie and substance were collected as evidence and will be sent to state officials for testing.
