(DAVIESS CO.) - On July 20, a partial human skull was located along the West Fork of the White River in Daviess County.
The remains were taken to the University of Indianapolis to be analyzed by a Professor of Biology and Anthropology.
The findings indicated these remains were that of an adult male and were most likely from a historical burial site.
The professor believes,due to the overall state of decomposition and preservation, the remains had washed out of this historical burial site from an upstream location. The remains could have traveled for miles and could have been in the water for years.
The exact period or cultural affiliation of the specimen cannot be determined from the available evidence. Also, because the specimen predates December 31, 1939, the Division of Historical Preservation and Archaeology of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources will be contacted and the remains will be stored at the University of Indianapolis.
