Last updated on Monday, October 20, 2014

(BIRDSEYE) - A 16-year-old runaway from Jackson County was located Friday evening in Birdseye.

Around 1:14 Friday afternoon, the Scott County Department of Child Services contacted the Indiana State Police in Sellersburg, reporting that a 16-year-old male was missing from the Jackson County Juvenile Home in Brownstown.

The male was a ward of Scott County. DCS officials believed that he may have left with a 16 -year-old female, as he had run away twice before. After checking possible locations and speaking with family members in the Jeffersonville area, Troopers with the Sellersburg Post believed the male to possibly be in the Jasper District.

Sellersburg Troopers soon found that the male may be located at 9280 West State Road 64, Birdseye. Trooper Ross Johnson arrived at the residence, but was unable to locate the male.

While patrolling the Birdseye area looking for the male, Trooper Johnson received a call, informing him that the male had returned to the residence. Trooper Johnson picked up the missing male and transported him back to the Sellersburg District, where Sellersburg troopers returned him to the Jackson County Juvenile Home.
