(GREENE CO.) - The homicide investigation into the death of Ruby Moon-Houldson continues although few details have been released to the public, leaving the community to speculate on the circumstances surrounding her murder.

The Greene County Daily World reports that both Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw and Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce said Friday they understand the desire for more information and more details but say they are doing everything by the book and don't want to jeopardize the case.

Houldson's body was found in her residence south of Linton in the Goose Pond area on Wednesday morning, October 1.

Early the next morning, the sheriff confirmed 47-year-old Houldson, was the victim and her death was being investigated as a homicide.

Two locations were under scrutiny: One a residential property, Houldson's former home, on State Road 59 on the south side of Linton; the other was Houldson's current residence on State Road 59 south of Linton in the Goose Pond area where the body was discovered.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department (GCSD) is the lead investigating agency and the sheriff says GCSD detectives have been working on the case daily since they were first dispatched to the scene. They are also conducting interviews.

Prosecutor Holtsclaw says detectives are working hard on this case and he'd like to reassure the public that things are being done.

"I ask for patience from the public to allow the detectives and other professionals to do their jobs," Holtsclaw added.
