Odon's Annual Pumpkin Festival Is Oct. 18

(ODON) - Oden's Annual Pumpkin Festival is Saturday, Oct. 18.

More than 40 vendors will be selling everything from food to handcrafted items, but there is still room for more. Vendors can reserve a booth up until the day of the festival. Cost for booths without electricity is $10 and booths with electricity are $15.

There will also be several contests taking place during the festival including a corn-hole tournament, pumpkin seed spit, pumpkin pie eating contest, best pumpkin recipe, golf cart decorating contest, pumpkin rolling and masquerade contest for children, adults and pets.

Age groups for the masquerade contest are 0- to 24-months, 2- to 3- year-olds, 4- and 5- year-olds, first through third graders, fourth through sixth graders, seventh through 12th graders, adults and pets.

Prizes will be given to the best celebrity lookalike, best historical lookalike, best group theme of two to five people and best dressed.

Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to those that place in the corn-hole tournament.

The winner of the best pumpkin recipe will receive a special apron and the pie eating winner will receive a bib.

Other events taking place include a straw maze, pumpkin decorating, pony rides, hayrides, the official pumpkin weigh-in and train rides on a small train, complete with caboose, built by local train enthusiast Gene Horning.

Daviess County Friends for Animals will also have cats and dogs available for adoption at the festival.
