(JACKSON CO.) - Motorists in rural parts of Jackson County will have to stop more often due to a project designed to make travel safer.

That project involves replacing yield signs with stop signs at 230 intersections along the 735-plus miles of road in the county outside the four municipalities.

County highway superintendent Warren Martin said he and assistant Jerry Ault have been working on the project with commissioners and the sheriff's department for three or four months.
