Mitchell Community Public Library Needs Help Building Reading Chain

Last updated on Friday, October 10, 2014

(MITCHELL) - It is about one-half mile from the Mitchell Community Public Library’s temporary location at the Mitchell Professional Building to its permanent home at 804 Main St., and the library needs help from its patrons to read “From Here to There.”

This is a reading challenge like no other.

Beginning this month, every time a patron completes a book, the person can come into the library and fill out a paper chain link. Patrons will record the book title and their names, if they wish.

The library hopes to collect enough links to make a paper chain that will stretch "From Here to There" -- from the temporary home to the permanent address.

That's about 13,000 books.

The library will be closed Oct. 17 for staff training.
