Martinsville Student Teacher Accused Of Inappropriate Relationship With Student

(MARTINSVILLE) - A student-teacher with Martinsville High School is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Joe Dusard was charged with disseminating matter harmful to minors. School officials and authorities began investigating after two students reported seeing Dusard and the student "canoodling" and texting each other, read the probable cause affidavit.

It was also reported there were inappropriate comments being exchanged on Facebook. According to court documents, Dusard initially denied having an inappropriate relationship with the student but later admitted to kissing the student in a parking lot.

Dusard also admitted he and the student exchanged texts that were "sexual in nature," read the probable cause.

Dusard allegedly told authorities he did this because he was mad at his fiance for cheating on him.

After receiving warrants to search the phones of the student and Dusard, authorities recovered alleged nude photos sent between the two.

Dusard, who was a student-teacher at Martinsville High School during the 2014 spring semester, was immediately terminated last spring when the allegations surfaced.
