(BARTHOLOMEW) - A Bartholomew County judge has ruled theories proposed by defense attorneys that someone other than 56-year-old Samuel E. Sallee murdered four Waynesville residents are inadmissible during Sallee’s upcoming trial.
Sallee, of Columbus, is charged with four counts of murder in connection with the May 11, 2013, shooting deaths of 53-year-old Katheryn Burton, 39-year-old Thomas Smith, 41-year-old Aaron T. Cross and 40-year-old Shawn L. Burton.
All four were found shot inside a Waynesville home on May 11.
Kathy Burton also suffered multiple stab wounds. Her son, Daniel, discovered the bodies after coming home from work.
Investigators found meth inside the home. Relatives believe the murders are the result of a drug deal.
The defense received a four-month continuance after Bartholomew Circuit Judge Steve Heimann ruled against the defense on the theories.
