(BLOOMINGTON) - Learn how to provide access to immediate help and safety for all children in crisis by learning more about Project Safe Place in Monroe County.

In an effort to keep children safe, the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) is hosting a forum that will explore how to build a youth safety plan and how to utilize the Safe Place program, a network of thousands of business and public locations across the country that display a yellow and black diamond-shaped logo.

The forum will feature Vanessa Schmidt, Safe Place coordinator, and Emma Ford, a clinical coordinator for the Youth Services Bureau of Monroe County. Schmidt and Ford will give an overview of Project Safe Place, demonstrate how youth can access Safe Place services and answer frequently asked questions.

The forum will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 30, at the MCCS Education Resource Center, 533 E. Miller, Bloomington, 47401.

As part of IYI's Youth Worker Cafe program, the forum is free and lunch will be served, but reservations are required by noon on Oct. 29. RSVP at www.iyi.org/YWC. Reservations may also be made by contacting IYI Statewide Outreach Manager Debbie Jones via phone at (317) 396-2723 or via email at djones@iyi.org.

Youth Worker Caf├ęs are designed to bring together local youth workers to build relationships and inspire collaborations that will benefit kids. This Youth Worker Cafe is made possible by the collaborative efforts the Monroe County Asset Building Coalition and IYI.
