(BLOOMINGTON) - Human remains have been found in a vacant lot at Arlington Valley Mobile Home Park.

At approximately 11:08 a.m. Wednesday, Bloomington Police Department were called to the mobile home park at 1600 North Willis Drive.

According to Bloomington Police Joe Quarters, the property manager discovered the remains while cleaning up the lot. A mobile home had been moved from the lot sometime this summer.

Quarters says a plastic storage bin had been placed over the remains that were found at the rear of the vacant lot.

Officers and detectives confirmed the remains were human and in an advanced stage of decomposition.

Police estimate the body had been there for about two to three months.

No indication of age, race or gender was able to be made.

The Bloomington Police Department is working with the Monroe County Coroner's Office who was also at the scene.

The remains have been transported to the University of Indianapolis where personnel from the Anthropology Department will assist with identification and a possible cause of death.

According to the Coroner, results may not be available for four to six weeks.

Quarters says that the death investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released as it becomes available.
