Greene County Man Arrested After Failing To Register As Sex Offender

Last updated on Monday, October 6, 2014

(BLOOMFIELD) - A Greene County man was arrested Friday after he failed to register as a sex offender.

24-year-old Nathan Zinser was booked into the Greene County Jail Friday morning.

Zinser, a convicted sex offender recently moved to Greene County and failed to register as required by law as a sex offender.

According to police Zinser was convicted and sentenced in Ohio of "Gross Sexual Imposition," a fourth degree felony under Ohio Law. As a result of this conviction, police say Zinser is required to register as a Tier 1 Offender for 15 years.

Greene County's Sex and Violent Offender Registrar, Denise Andrew of the Greene County Sheriff's Department, says Zinser came into her office on August 1 and gave her an address of 2774 N. 1000 W. in Jasonville. He also gave her one contact phone number for him and his wife.

But Andrew says a check of that address showed this address would be in Linton, not Jasonville and on August 4, she attempted to contact him by phone. There was no answer but she left a message and followed up by mailing additional registration information to him. She said she did not receive a return phone call and the mail was returned to her by the post office because the residence did not exist.

Andrew contacted the Sheriff's Department in Athens County, Ohio, the last known place where he had registered, and they discovered he had moved away and was not registered anywhere else in Ohio, or Indiana.

Police tried several other times to contract Zinser, but were unable to, thus a warrant was issued for his arrest.
