(HAYSVILLE) - Two Dubois County men were arrested Saturday night after the two were involved in a physical fight in a moving vehicle south of Haysville.

According to the Dubois County Sheriff's Department, a person called police reporting a pickup driven by 54-year old Gregory Barr of Ireland was traveling south on U. S. 231 shortly after 6 pm Saturday. The caller reported that they were seen swerving off and on the highway.

There was also a report that the truck had struck a guardrail but continued down U.S. 231 headed toward Jasper.

Dubois County deputies were finally able to get Barr to pull over at 41st and Wilhelm streets.

The vehicle's passenger, 40-year old David Hanes, Jr,. told police that he had grabbed the steering wheel of the pickup truck, causing the truck to swerve and strike the guardrail. He also told police he was attempting to crash the truck so he could beat up Barr.

The men did not tell police what they were arguing about.

Barr was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, illegal possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Hanes was arrested on charges of battery, criminal recklessness with a vehicle and inhaling toxic vapors.
