(MITCHELL) - Brandi Cobb, the owner of three dogs taken from her home on August 8, wants reimbursement for the dog that contracted parvo and died.
Cobb lives on a farm on Middle Creek Road in Mitchell and Lawrence County animal control seized her dogs; a 8-week-old female English mastiff and bullmastiff mix, a 10-month-old male toy Australian shepherd, and a 1-year-old female English mastiff.
The Times-Mail reports that shortly after the pets were taken from Cobb's home, the English mastiff died of canine parvovirus.
According to Sheriff Sam Craig, the dogs were seized after police received complaints about the dogs and the state veterinarian went to the home and found some problems. Craig says the case is still under investigation and being reviewed by the prosecutor's office.
Cobb, who spends a lot of time away from home, left the dogs in the care of a trusted friend.
Craig says the animal control officer does not seize a dog unless there is a problem.
Cobb's two other dogs are fine, and are being cared for by the staff at the White River Humane society where they were taken after being seized.Cobb is paying $115 a month per dog for the animal's care.
Cobb says the dog that died was worth $900 and wants reimbursement for the dog.
