(LINTON) - Linton-Stockton School Corporation Superintendent Nick Karazsia has confirmed that there was a bomb threat.

On Tuesday morning, Middle School Principal Jeff Sparks received information that someone was going to bring a bomb to school at some point in the future.

The Greene County Daily World reports that the Linton-Stockton School Corporation immediately enacted their Safety Plan by securing the premises, notifying the Linton Police Department and starting their investigation.

The students involved with the bomb threat were identified quickly and Linton Police officers took those involved to the police station for questioning. Police say criminal charges will be filed against the students.

Superintendent Karazsia stated in a press release that the students and staff at the school were never in any danger during this time.

"Our school staff and the Linton Police Department work diligently to provide a safe school environment," Karazsia stated, "We investigate every rumor or threat, and every threat is taken very seriously."

Linton Police Chief Troy Jerrell cautioned students that the Linton Police Department also does not take a bomb threat lightly.

"This is not a joking matter," he added. "I would hate to see any more kids get themselves in trouble over something like this."

Karazsia expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and effort that took place from his staff and the police force.

"I cannot express how proud I am with our administrators and the Linton Police Department for their tireless work on this serious situation," said Karazsia.
