(UNDATED) - The Center of Disease Control issued new recommendations for this year's flu.

The CDC says the flu kills nearly 30,000 people a year but only half of Americans are getting vaccinated.

For the first time the CDC is recommending children ages 2-6 receive the flu mist over the flu shot saying the mist seems to offer more protection.

The CDC is also recommending that seniors get a vaccine against a type of bacteria that can cause pneumonia.

The flu will send about 200,000 people to the hospital this year.
