Bedford Middle School Student Injured After Running Into Side Of Truck

Last updated on Tuesday, October 7, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford Middle School student was injured Monday afternoon after he ran into the path of a truck.

A Bedford police officer was called to the area of O and 15th streets at 3:12 p.m. but could not find an injured person or an accident.

The officer was informed that the teen who was injured was inside the Bedford Middle School with the school nurse being treated for scratches on both his left and right arms.

14-year-old Tor Connaughton of Bedford told police he was headed to a friend's house after school and admitted to running into traffic and into the side of a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by 36-year-old Joshua Cameron of Springville.

Cameron was traveling south on O Street when Connaughton, out of know where, ran into the side of his truck.

After running into the side of the truck, the impact knocked Connaughton to the ground.

Cameron got out of his truck and asked Connaughton if he was okay and if he needed help. Connaughton told Cameron he was fine and didn't need any assistance.

Cameron told police he wanted to stick around but was told by school officials he was no longer needed and left the scene. Connaughton was then taken to the nurse's station for treatment.

Police then had Connaughton transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital to be checked by medical personnel and his mother was contacted.
